Those thoughts can impact your relationship in very significant ways if you are not aware of the thoughts you're having.
Have you perhaps ever noticed yourself freak out at the thought of your partner leaving? Or perhaps freak out at the thought of having to leave your partner even if you don't want to? These might be signs of unhealthy attachment rather than commitment to the relationship you are in.
Being committed without being attached can be very freeing for someone who has spent the majority of the relationship fearing that it will come to an end. Believing a thought like "I'll be okay no matter what" can actually allow you to be more present and feel more intimate and connected with the person you love.
